  1. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Helmed by Kat Von D, a renown tattoo artist as well as TV personality, it’s also one of Sephora’s best-selling liquid lipsticks. Vegan and cruelty-free, there are 28 shades for every occasion. ($20 from Sephora.sg)

  1. Faux Fayc Fauxstix Matte Liquid in KULT

What’s unique about this is the click pen brush applicator that replaces your conventional lip brush. With KULT, the initial application reads magenta, but you get a deep plum shade upon layering the shade. However, you’ve got to patiently click through before it dispenses the product. A Singapore-based brand, support local by purchasing direct from Faux Fayc at $35. (P.S. Use code FFNUS10 for 10% off your first order!)

  1. NYX Liquid Suede Cream lipstick

A step up from their wildly popular Soft Matte Lip Creams, this is easily the most affordable liquid lipstick of the bunch. (Approximately $10, NYX website)

This caught us by a surprise, but it’s possible to use your liquid lipsticks as a coloured eyeliner! It’s as easy as using an eyeliner brush to swipe on the colour and you’re good to go.

4. Christian Louboutin Velvet Matte Lip Colour

Thread a chain or ribbon through the loop opening and this product instantly transforms into a statement accessory, reminiscent of the iconic Louboutin stiletto heel. The luxurious packaging also makes for a great conversation starter. ($90, Sephora.sg)

However, some prep work is necessary to get a flawless canvas. Exfoliate your lips with a scrub and smooth on some lip balm the night before. In the morning, just rinse off with a damp cloth for buttery smooth lips. Avoid layering excess lip balm underneath your product as it’ll prevent the colour from adhering to your lips.

If you’re still hesitant on going full matte, here’s a trick to getting the most out of your existing lippies. After applying your regular lip colour, smooth a single-ply tissue over your lips and brush translucent powder to get an instant shine-free finish.
