For when you need downtime: Bali, Indonesia

Bali comes to mind for anyone who has ever wanted an island getaway. Given the gorgeous ocean views and friendly locals, it’s no surprise that Bali ranks high on our list of places to hideout when you just need to take it easy. Envision lounging the day away in shorts and shades, tropical drink in hand – who needs wifi when you’re in paradise?

Things to do to unwind: Watch the sun set over the rice paddies in Ubud; get the full royal treatment and pamper yourself with a full body oil massage; and completely detox at yoga barn with any of their classes and yummy healthy food options.

For those who live to shop: Seoul, Korea

We love this city that, quite literally, never sleeps. With malls that open till 5 am and an unbeatable tax refund process, we can’t help but leave Korea with overstuffed bags. Whether you’re a beauty fanatic or streetwear fiend, get ready to spend.

Shops to check out: Aland flagship for floor after floor of curated brands and in-house basics; DDM for fast moving casual threads mixed with the best of Korea’s emerging designers; and Gentle Monster for its killer VM and edgy eyewear.

Better known as the “culinary capital of Asia,” Hong Kong is a city you must visit for those who take food very seriously. With the wide array of food choices ranging from the stubbornly traditional to the unself-conscious fusion food, it is no wonder that the city is home for some of the world’s most food-obsessed people.

Drool-worthy places to try: Mak Man Kee, for the rave-worthy wanton noodles; To die for scrambled eggs and milk pudding at Australia Dairy Company; and not forgetting Yung Kee for their famous roast goose and ‘siu ngoh.’

For the culture vultures: Berlin

With over 100 museums and a whopping over 500 galleries, visitors to Berlin are definitely spoilt for choice. Since the reunification of Germany, Berlin prides itself as a city with bursting ideas, art, inspiration, culture and creativity. Friends, get ready to be blown away by Berlin’s appealing cultural offerings!

Famous places to visit: Berlin’s most famous landmark Brandenburg Gate; Museumsinsel (Museum Island) featuring 5 of the most renowned museums; and if you’re lucky enough, remember to catch the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras, it’s one of the world’s best.

As the saying goes, “one man’s sports is another man’s madness.” If you find yourself constantly chasing the elusive rush over high water, great heights and sheer rocks, you are indeed an adrenaline junkie. Step out of your comfort zones, and go live these transient moments where you feel truly alive.

Must-Try activities: Rock Climbing at Yosemite National Park (60 miles); Kayaking in the Gauley River (West Virginia); and Hidden Valley at Joshua Tree National Park, attracting about 1.2 million hikers, campers and nature buffs from all over the world annually.

Of course, all these cities have a lot more to offer than what we’ve mentioned. Use those leave days wisely and plan for your next getaway already!
